BANWO

As the first cries from mouth

Broke the silence in the night

From the purest sanctuary was brought forth.

Water of life from mother’s nipple silenced me

Unending milky love tasted, unbreakable passion sealed.

Banwo-care for him, my creator urged

For Israel is divinely favored yet stone hearted.

Prayer, my mother first call

Discipline her watch word.

At dead of the nights she pray

“In this evil world, she would say

I pray oh lord! May he never stray”

Her knees never weak,

Her love ever  meek.

What words can describe my mother’s love

With what deeds can she be repaid?
